Normalize both files: signed amounts, dates as YYYY-MM-DD.
Match in this order, recording the pass:
a. Same amount, same date.
b. Same amount, dates within 3 days.
c. Same amount and matching check number.
d. One bank line equal to 2 to 5 GL lines (batched deposits)…
